TXT ↔ CSV

Turn a TXT list into a CSV table, or extract a column from a CSV file into TXT.

About TXT ↔ CSV

The TXT ↔ CSV Converter switches quickly between plain-text lists and CSV spreadsheets. Turn each line of text into a CSV row, split it into columns by a delimiter, or go the other way and pull any column out of a CSV file into a TXT list.

The CSV files you create open in Excel, Google Sheets, LibreOffice and most data tools. Accented and non-Latin characters are preserved.

How to use

  1. Choose a direction: TXT → CSV or CSV → TXT.
  2. Paste your data or upload a file.
  3. For TXT → CSV, choose the character that separates columns and add a header row if you like. For CSV → TXT, pick a column or join all columns.
  4. Click "Convert", preview the result, then copy or download the file.

Frequently asked questions

Why do special characters look wrong when I open the CSV in Excel?

Downloaded files are marked as UTF-8 so Excel shows them correctly. If it still looks wrong, use Data → From Text/CSV in Excel and choose UTF-8.

Should I use a comma or a semicolon as the delimiter?

The comma is the most common standard. However, Excel on computers set to European number formats often expects semicolons.

Can I convert Excel .xlsx files?

The tool works with CSV. Save your Excel file as CSV (File → Save As → CSV) first.
